Events

The Central Joint Firefighter’s Association enjoys actively participating and hosting events that provide financial support to our community partners. Many of these events are annual traditions, and we truly enjoy the fellowship that these events bring.

Fire House Memorial Run (Benefit for the MS Society of NW Ohio)

Beginning in 2006 Central Joint has organized a motorcycle ride that generates funds for the MS Society of Northwest Ohio. One of Chief Bechstein’s best friends, Eric Walls, fell victim to this terrible disease and is the reason this wonderful event began. Bikers from throughout Northwest Ohio travel to our station to begin this 100 mile ride on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. All Bikes are welcome, and we look forward to having you stop by to enjoy in this wonderful event.

Five Alarm Five K (Benefit for the American Lung Association)

FF Donnie Zeigler and his Brother Lt. Danniel Zeigler lost their father to lung cancer and have championed the American Lung Association’s call for eliminating this terrible disease. In 2013, the Central Joint Firefighters kicked off their inaugural 5k event to benefit the American Lung Association. This event, held in the Fall, attracts runners from throughout Northwest Ohio who are interested in having a fun stroll down the slippery elm trail all while supporting such a worthy cause.

Fall Chicken BBQ (Benefits local charities and community partners)

The fall just wouldn’t be the same without a long list of fire department barbecues. We don’t know when we started this annual tradition…it’s been a long time. We truly enjoy spending time with our community residents and visitors. Our firefighters get up rather early to begin cooking these scrumptious half chickens and love seeing the smiles on the faces of those who stop by for lunch.

Community Halloween Party

It’s all about the kids. The firefighters began a new tradition a few years ago by hosting a community Halloween party of the kids of our 77 square miles. Included with the night of visiting neighbors and enjoying cider and doughnuts is a parade for various age groups and costume types. It’s great fun for the kids, and a great way for everyone to stop by and see all of our scary looking firefighters just before Halloween.
